Allergies can plague humans and animals alike. Allergens are present everywhere, although they affect every living thing differently. Animals such as your beloved furry pet can be plagued with allergies or suffer from an allergic reaction to just about anything. If your dog has had an allergic reaction to something, you should be aware of the signs of something like this in your dog. Swelling

Your dog may be showing signs of swelling in the area affected by the allergic reaction. For instance, if your dog was stung or bitten by something, it may have swelling in that one location. If your dog ate something that it is allergic to, the swelling could be just about anywhere on the body, including inside the body, such as in its throat or elsewhere. If you notice any swelling that is visible, you should get your dog to a veterinarian hospital for treatment. Use a warm cloth to soothe any pain, and you may be able to give your dog a children's Benedryl to alleviate the swelling as well.

Difficulty Eating Or Drinking

Your dog may have a difficult time eating or drinking, as the swelling could be internal. Your dog may also be throwing up or having a difficult time keeping anything down. If you notice your dog is not eating or drinking anything or is even showing signs of having a difficult time breathing, you need to take your dog in for treatment right away. Internal swelling can lead to other issues and your dog could eventually dehydrate from throwing up or from lack of food and water.

Diarrhea

If you notice your dog has had diarrhea and it is not getting any better, you should get your dog in for treatment. Your dog may have had an allergic reaction to something or ingested something toxic. If you notice your dog's feces is loose or watery, get your dog in for treatment.

Signs of an allergic reaction may differ from dog to dog, but if you suspect there is something wrong with your dog, you should always take it in for a proper diagnosis and treatment right away to prevent it from worsening.
